What 𞗴 means

Read it as the number three. Ol Onal has ten decimal digits, which combine to write numbers; this glyph is the numeral 3, not a letter.

Mahendra Nath Sardar developed Ol Onal from 1981 to 1992 for Bhumij. In 1992, the Adim Bhumij Samaj chose his script in a contest for a Bhumij writing system. Bhumij had also been written with Odia, Bengali, Devanagari, and Latin scripts.

Why do old charts show another shape?

The numeral’s shape was revised for the first digital fonts in 2013.

Technical limits made the original designs difficult to represent. Earlier material preserves those forms, but this glyph still means three.

Why does 𞗴 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
