What 𞗳 means

Early font technology made the original design hard to reproduce.

The first digital fonts changed Ol Onal’s original digit designs in 2013 because they were hard to reproduce. Mahendra Nath Sardar began developing Ol Onal around 1981 to write Bhumij. Adim Bhumij Samaj, a Bhumij organization, chose it in a 1992 contest. By 2020, Sardar had written several books in Ol Onal. Ol means “draw”; onal means “shape or diagram.”

Why does 𞗳 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
