Separated Block Sextant-25

605/686

𜹢 is a separated mosaic tile for Teletext pictures; as of 2026, enter it in a GTK text field with Unicode hex input using CtrlShiftU, then 1CE62 and Enter. Teletext was a British broadcast service for information pages and simple graphics. As of 2026, macOS Unicode Hex Input accepts only four-digit values, so use Character Viewer for this five-digit code.

What 𜹢 means

In a GTK text field: press CtrlShiftU, enter 1CE62, then press Enter.

GTK is a toolkit used by some Linux apps; this sequence works in text fields with Unicode hexadecimal input enabled.

What does 𜹢 show?

It fills the upper-right and lower-left cells in a six-cell tile.

Picture each Teletext character position as a rectangle split into two columns and three rows. The other four cells stay in the background color, while neighboring tiles supply the larger picture. On its own, this is a graphic component, not a pictogram with one fixed meaning.

Why does the mosaic have gaps?

Separated mode leaves background color between the lit blocks.

Teletext began in the UK in the early 1970s as a broadcast service for information pages with text and simple graphics. Its initial British specification appeared in October 1974; the 1976 revision describes six-cell graphics for simple pictures in touching or separated forms. Teletext became commonplace across Europe until the adoption of digital television. A Unicode proposal in 2021 explains that distinct separated characters let emulators and existing software preserve this display.

Questions people ask

1

Why does 𜹢 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
