What 𘧿 means
It names a structural part, not a word. Tangut components describe and index complete Tangut characters, including through Ideographic Description Sequences (IDS), which show how a character is assembled. A component can occur in different larger characters without carrying one fixed translation.
A component table in a study of Tangut writing lists 𘧿 on the left side of sample character 𘕋. That placement shows its role in one larger form, not a standalone gloss.
Why does Tangut writing use components?
They help build, describe, and organize Tangut writing. The Tangut script, also called Xixia script, was created around 1036 under the first emperor of Western Xia, a medieval state.
Components clarify how complex characters are built and support dictionary lookup. One component-ordered text lists 𘧿 as the left-side part of 𘕋; its source has a colophon dated 1188, a note at the end of a manuscript. Tangut writing continued in Buddhist and printed works after Western Xia fell. In digital text, components also support lookup and IDS descriptions.
Is this a Chinese character?
No; it belongs to the distinct Tangut script. Tangut and Chinese characters share compact, square layouts, and both can arrange parts beside or above one another. That visual resemblance does not make the scripts interchangeable.
An IDS records how a character is assembled. Use 𘧿 when identifying the component or describing a complete Tangut character; use the full character or a translation when the reader needs the word's meaning.
On its own, 𘧿 functions as a component label, lookup aid, or font test.
Do not read this part as a complete Tangut word.
