What 𘨲 means
It is one structural part of a Tangut character. A Tangut character can contain two or more components, the pieces scholars use to describe how it is constructed. A component may contribute shape, sound, or meaning, and its role can change from one full character to another. So 𘨲 alone has no single English translation.
Tangut writing entered official use in the Western Xia state around 1036. It served government and schools; Buddhist works were translated into Tangut and block-printed. Writing continued after the state fell in 1227, and an inscription from 1502 is among the latest known records. Tangut writing was influenced by Chinese but remained distinct. Comparisons with Khitan and Jurchen writing do not establish that 𘨲 was borrowed from either.
Why might 𘨲 appear as a box?
The font may not include Tangut characters. If an app shows a blank box, its selected font may lack a drawing for this character. A font with Tangut coverage can display it.

Treat it as a component, not a translated word.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘨲 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
