What 🡅 means
It marks upward direction, an increase, or movement to a higher level.
As a thick up arrow, its broad stroke makes the pointer stand out. In up arrow text, it can sit before a label, value, or step; nearby words tell you whether it marks a rise, the next step, or literal direction.
In 2011, Unicode standards work accepted a proposal to preserve many symbols from Wingdings and Webdings, fonts that supplied their own symbol shapes. Supplemental Arrows-C, where this arrow belongs, was part of that work. The goal was to make those designs usable as standard text rather than leave them dependent on a particular font.
What does 🡅 mean when someone sends it?
Read it literally first: “up,” “increase,” or “move higher.”
By itself, it has no specific conversational tone. If there is no object, number, or direction to connect it to, ask the sender what is meant to move up.
Technical and typographic: the heavy stroke emphasizes an upward direction.
If a recipient’s font lacks this glyph, it may appear as a box; use ↑ when reliable display matters.
