What ﯦ means
It is the initial joining form of the letter ې. In Pashto and Uyghur, ې represents the letter E; ﯦ is its pre-shaped form when it joins to the following letter. In Sindhi, the same base character has a different letter value and is named bbeh.
Uyghur has a long history of Arabic-derived writing. Arabic-derived scripts were used for Uyghur from the 10th century; Chagatai remained a literary script until the 1920s, and Arabic script was reinstated as an official Uyghur script in China in 1987.
Should I use ﯦ in new text?
Usually use ې and let the font shape it. Arabic-script text normally stores the base letter; the font chooses its initial, medial, final, or isolated shape from its position. Presentation forms such as ﯦ are compatibility characters used mainly for older data or when a specific code point is required.
Compatibility normalization can convert ﯦ to ې without changing the intended letter.
A technical, language-specific text character; it has no established social tone as a standalone message.
For ordinary Pashto or Uyghur spelling, use ې; ﯦ is for data that requires this exact pre-shaped form.
