What 🐈⬛ means
A black cat, literal or aesthetic.
Under a pet photo it is pride in the household void cat. Add a pumpkin, ghost or crystal ball and the same cat becomes Halloween decor or a witch's familiar, the animal companion folklore gives witches.
It carries no fixed luck message; superstition applies only when the words already mention luck.
Someone sent you 🐈⬛ — is it a bad sign?
No — read it as affectionate unless they say otherwise.
Alone it nods at a real black cat or adds dark-cute flair. With 🖤 it is fond; with 🎃 or 🔮 it is seasonal.
Playful and friendly, spooky only when dressed up with Halloween or occult symbols.
Never read it as an automatic bad-luck threat.

3Worth knowing
- The characters behind 🐈⬛ existed in Unicode 10 years before anyone was allowed to draw them in colour: Unicode 6.0 in 2010, emoji presentation in 2020.
- 🐈⬛ is not one character. It is 3 of them glued together, which is why deleting it sometimes takes two presses of backspace and why it breaks character counters.
