What ᷁ means
It marks an amended acute in Greek papyrus editing. The dots flag an acute accent a scribe inserted or marked for deletion; they record correction history rather than prescribe a new sound. In papyrology—the study and editing of ancient papyrus texts—it is an editorial sign.
The 2002 Thesaurus Linguae Graecae proposal, a project for studying Greek texts, cites a 1955 edition of a Sappho papyrus as an early example. It calls the sign an inherited papyrological correction convention and says modern editions usually resolve the change, retaining the dotted mark when evidence cannot settle which accent is right.
How do I enter it after a letter?
Put it immediately after the Greek letter it marks. The mark follows its base in stored text, and the font positions it over the letter. On its own, a font may display a dotted-circle placeholder to show where a base would go; that circle is not stored text.
Do not substitute the ordinary combining acute. The Greek form combines a diaeresis and acute and represents that accent combination; ᷁ instead records an editorial correction. The related combining dotted grave ᷀ marks an analogous correction to a grave accent.
Scholarly and technical; it records a correction in Greek textual editing, not an ordinary accent choice.
If you only need an acute, use the ordinary acute; ᷁ signals a correction.

1Questions people ask
1Why does ᷁ appear on a dotted circle?
It has no base letter. A renderer may add a dotted circle to show where the mark would attach; the circle is a display placeholder, not part of the text.
