What 𘭓 means
Khitan words often combine signs that represent sounds. Khitan small script also has signs for complete words. Two or more sound signs commonly join to spell a word; one sign may therefore be a word by itself or part of a cluster.
Created around 925, it is credited to Yelü Diela, brother of Liao founder Yelü Abaoji. Uyghur writing reportedly inspired it, though the scripts look little alike. Khitan Large Script was a separate system for the same language. A 2014 chronology begins dated inscriptions at 983; main surviving texts are elite epitaphs, stone memorials for the dead. It continued under Western Liao and Jin after Liao fell; Jin abolished it in 1191. Traditional text runs downward in columns, right to left. Unicode Standard 17.0 says digital text needs special layout support for word clusters and direction.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘭓 show as a box on some devices?
It is recent: Unicode added it in version 13.0 (2020), and phones and computers whose fonts are older than that have nothing to draw it with. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
