What 𘯻 means
One scholarly reading gives it the sound “à.”
Daniel Kane’s 2009 character list transcribes 𘯻 as “à” for a Khitan sound. That is a proposed sound value, not an English translation or a replacement character.
How did Khitan small script work?
Its sound signs clustered to spell words.
Created around 925, it wrote Khitan, spoken in the Liao state of northern China. Yelü Diela, the ruler’s younger brother, is credited with its creation; historical accounts say Uyghur writing inspired it. It pairs logograms (whole-word signs) with phonograms (sound signs), usually grouped into clusters of two to eight characters.
The earliest dated surviving inscription is a tomb text from 1053. Khitan writing continued under Jin rule; Jurchen rulers later modeled their own script partly on it.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘯻 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
