What 𜺎 means

It is one tile in a low-resolution picture.

“Sextant” means a two-column, three-row mosaic; its digits name the filled cells. Teletext, a British broadcast service developed in the early 1970s, sent text and simple graphics to television. Its separated mode added background gaps around each cell. Placed side by side, tiles built low-resolution pictures.

Is 𜺎 a Teletext mode switch?

No. It encodes one fixed tile.

Teletext used a control code to switch later mosaic characters into separated mode. This Unicode character encodes a fixed tile for emulators and older software. Some programs stored these patterns in a private-use area, reserved for characters without a universal code.

Why does 𜺎 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
