separated block sextant-123456

Separated Block Sextant 123456

𜺏 is a full 2×3 sextant mosaic: all six tiles are filled, with narrow gaps between them. In teletext-style graphics, that grid can act like a tiny picture inside one text cell; this version lights every tile but keeps the separators.

What 𜺏 means

It fills all six cells in a separated mosaic. A sextant here is one character-sized grid divided into two columns and three rows; each small block acts like a chunky pixel. Teletext used such mosaics to draw simple pictures in text pages. Here, every cell is on, while the background remains visible between them.

The recognizable design was part of broadcast teletext by 1974: its specification defined six-cell graphics in contiguous and separated modes. A 1977 BBC report describes graphics as a presentation feature of the Ceefax information service. Teletext changed the gap style with a display control; a 2021 Unicode proposal says separate characters were needed to preserve those patterns in teletext emulators and existing software.
