Upper Left Twelfth Circle

It is a short arc tile for building circle outlines on a grid of text cells. Its old computer-graphics role lets plain-text files and emulators preserve that piece of screen art.

What 𜰰 means

It is one arc tile for drawing rounded outlines in text. The Sharp MZ circle segment comes from the European primary display set used on home computers in the 1970s and 1980s; its original display code was 9C.

Other arc pieces from the same set can be arranged in character cells to make a larger circle. Unicode’s 2021 proposal aimed to keep these old characters intact when converting files and to let emulators recreate the original screens.

Why does 𜰰 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
