What 𜵖 means

It marks four filled cells in an eight-part tile. An octant divides one text cell into two columns and four rows; 1, 3, 6 and 7 name its filled parts.

How did Kaypro use octants?

Kaypro used octants for screen graphics. A 1983 guide for the Kaypro 10 home computer shows programs plotting 2 × 4 pixel groups inside text cells. A 2021 Unicode proposal aimed to preserve the set for conversion, emulation, and text-mode graphics. Its map assigns this pattern hexadecimal byte E5 in Kaypro's reverse-video set, where foreground and background swap; decoding old files requires Kaypro's character map.

Why does 𜵖 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
