Argentina flag emoji 🇦🇷 and the Sun of May
The Argentina flag emoji shows the national flag: light blue, white and light blue stripes with the golden Sol de Mayo, the Sun of May, in the middle. Manuel Belgrano first raised a light blue and white flag in 1812 on the banks of the Paraná at Rosario, and the sun was added in 1818. It is named after the May Revolution of 25 May 1810, which began the road to independence, declared in Tucumán on 9 July 1816.
Like every country flag, is not one character but two regional indicator letters, and , the country code AR. Phones and Macs draw the pair as a flag; Windows has no flag pictures in its emoji font, so the same emoji shows there as the letters AR. Copy it anyway: the person you send it to on a phone will see the flag.
There is no emoji of the Sun of May itself. People use , the sun with a face, which looks remarkably like it, or for the plain sun. Together with they spell out the flag in colours, which is handy where flags do not display.

Football emoji for Argentina:
Football is the one thing almost every Argentina emoji message touches. Argentina has won the men's World Cup three times, in 1978, 1986 and 2022, which is why fans paste for the three stars above the badge, and for the trophy Lionel Messi lifted in Qatar. Argentina also holds the record for Copa América titles and won Olympic football gold in 2004 and 2008 .
the goat is how fans write GOAT, "greatest of all time", next to Messi's name, and is the number 10 shirt worn by both Diego Maradona and Messi. stands for the stadiums, from Boca Juniors' La Bombonera to River Plate's Monumental, and for the bombo, the big bass drum that keeps the chants going in the stands.
Argentina wins at more than football: Los Pumas in rugby, Las Leonas, the women's field hockey team and three-time world champions, tennis from Guillermo Vilas and Gabriela Sabatini to Juan Martín del Potro, and the basketball team that took Olympic gold in Athens in 2004 with Manu Ginóbili.
Mate, asado and the food of Argentina in emoji
the mate emoji is the gourd with its metal straw, the bombilla, used to drink yerba mate, the bitter herbal infusion Argentines share all day long, passed around a group from hand to hand. It is the most Argentine thing on the emoji keyboard after the flag, and Uruguayans, Paraguayans and southern Brazilians claim it just as proudly.
The Sunday asado is : beef and ribs slow-cooked over embers on the parrilla. stands for the choripán, a grilled chorizo in bread, and with for the wine, above all Malbec from the vineyards of Mendoza. is the closest emoji to the empanada, and does duty for medialunas, the small sweet croissants of breakfast and merienda.
For dessert, is flan, best with dulce de leche, stands in for alfajores, for the Italian-style ice cream that shops sell by the quarter, half or whole kilo, and for the chocolate of Bariloche. Italian immigration gave Buenos Aires its pizza and its pasta, including ñoquis del 29, gnocchi eaten on the 29th of the month with a banknote under the plate for luck.
