What ဗ means
ဗ is the Burmese consonant ba. It carries an unwritten “a” vowel; attached signs can change it or mark another consonant, an ending, or tone.
A South Indian script related to Brahmi, an ancient South Asian writing system, was borrowed about the eighth century to write Mon. The first Myanmar-script inscription dates to the eleventh century and uses nearly the same letters as Mon inscriptions. Myanmar writing later served Burmese, Mon, Karen, Shan, Pali, and Sanskrit, including Buddhist texts.
