What 𘫀 means
It is a Tangut lookup component, not a word with a fixed translation. A component is a reusable part of a Tangut character; scholars use component lists to group dictionary entries and to describe or analyze character structure. In a dictionary, a radical is the component used as a heading for a group of entries. A digitized Tangut index files 𘞎 under 𘫀.
The Tangut script, also called Xixia, was created around 1036 under the emperor of the Western Xia state to write the Tangut language in what is now northwestern China. It appeared in Buddhist sutras, state records, and other texts, and continued after the kingdom fell; an inscription dated 1502 shows it was still in use. Tangut writing drew visual and structural inspiration from Chinese writing, and neighboring Khitan scripts may also have influenced it, but Tangut was a distinct script. Scholars rediscovered it in the late 19th century and largely deciphered it in the early 20th century.
Tangut component lists are modern scholarly tools, not one universal historical system. Different dictionaries group characters differently, and Unicode’s component collection brings together parts used in dictionaries and elements needed to describe character structure.
How do I type 𘫀?
Use a Tangut-specific input method, if one is available. A documented Rime Xunpin layout accepts phonetic, stroke, four-corner, or component input. These are ways to find a character in the keyboard layout, not pronunciations of 𘫀.
Scholarly and archival: it names a structural part or dictionary heading.
A message containing only 𘫀 gives no dependable Tangut word to translate.
