What 𗰙 means
A dictionary for Tangut and Chinese gives it the gloss “circle.” Tangut was the language of Western Xia, a historic state in what is now northwestern China. Its script is distinct from Chinese, though the square-shaped characters can look similar.
Li Yuanhao, ruler of Western Xia, commissioned the script in 1036 partly to establish the state’s identity and translate Buddhist texts. About a century earlier, neighboring Khitan rulers had also created scripts for their own language. Tangut texts included official and secular works as well as Buddhist books. The script remained in use after Western Xia fell and faded by the late Ming. As of 2026, FileFormat.info’s character page marks 𗰙 with “lastresort” rendering; a box in another app may mean its font lacks Tangut coverage.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗰙 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
