Upper Middle Centre Left One Sixteenth Block

𜺕 is the lit second-row, second-column tile in a 4-by-4 character cell. It belongs to semigraphics: small text blocks early home computers arranged like pixels to draw pictures. Unicode preserves these pieces so old screen layouts and programs can still be represented as text.

What 𜺕 means

It is one lit square in a character cell. The 4-by-4 block pattern places this tile in row two, column two. Set beside other block pieces in a text grid, tiles like this let software sketch shapes without addressing each screen pixel separately.

Early microcomputers from the mid-1970s through the mid-1980s used semigraphic blocks like this to draw rough pictures on text screens. The Robotron Z9001 character set maps this exact tile to byte D5. That byte is the old machine's code, not the Unicode value used in modern text. The wider block repertoire first entered Unicode for compatibility in 1991, with later additions in 1999 and 2002.
