What ︣ means
Place it after the second letter, paired with the left half. To use ︣ with two letters, put ︢ after the first and this mark after the second: n︢g︣. The pair draws one tilde across n and g, like n͠g with a single full mark.
The four-character sequence needs both base letters and both halves in order. A missing or mismatched half can leave defective text.
In some fonts, n︢g︣ can render detached or fail to join across letters of different heights. If it looks broken, check the font before changing a correctly ordered sequence.
Where did this half-mark pattern come from?
The pattern appears in historical Spanish-based Tagalog spelling. Tagalog is a language of the Philippines. The old ng with tilde appears in forms such as n͠g and ng̃, earlier spellings of modern ng; n︢g︣ encodes the same span across n and g.
MARC-8/ANSEL, an older encoding used in library catalogs, stored the double tilde as two halves; its Unicode mapping was published in 1997. For new text, Unicode prefers the single mark ͠ between the letters because it is simpler to render and cannot lose half order.
Technical and archival; this is a combining text mark, not a casual decoration.
A lone ︣ is incomplete; do not use it as a decorative tilde.

1Why does ︣ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.

A visible symbol can contain several code points. JS .length counts UTF-16 units; UTF-8 counts bytes.
