Face Screaming in Fear

Usually excited — a performed gasp, not real fear. The official name says fear; usage says theatre. This face marks a reaction too big for words: a reveal, a scandal, a score, a bill. Real dread gets quieter faces. This one is for shock you want the other person to see you having.

Polarity comes from the text, not the face. "You WON?? 😱" is joy; "my flight got cancelled 😱" is comic despair. The face contributes only the volume.

Good — they're impressed; match the energy. Your news landed as a jolt worth performing, and nobody needs calming down. If what you shared was genuinely bad and all you got back was 😱, it's more likely clumsy sympathy — someone grabbing the biggest face on the keyboard — than mockery.

A worried relative can be the exception: sometimes the fear is meant literally. A parent's 😱 under news about a trip or a hospital visit may be real alarm waiting to be settled. Answer the worry, not the theatre.
