Large Type Piece Upper Right Corner

𜸧 is a piece from the HP 2640’s large type set: one cell in the 3×3 pattern that made letters three times normal size. It forms an upper-right corner and needs the other cells to make a full letter.

What 𜸧 means

It helped make letters three times normal size.

The HP 2640 was a computer terminal. Its optional Large Character Set made oversized headings from nine cells in a 3×3 grid. The 1979 reference manual lists this character as the upper-right piece. Unicode keeps each piece as a text character, so arranging the full grid is still necessary to make a complete large letter.

Why does my large letter come apart?

The character cells need to stay aligned.

HP’s original microvector shapes could meet at the edges of neighboring cells. To recreate the 3×3 design in text, use a fixed-width font that contains the whole set; uneven spacing or a missing glyph can interrupt the outline.

Why does 𜸧 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
