What ¶ means
It marks a paragraph boundary.
In proofreading and editing, the pilcrow flags where a paragraph begins or where a break belongs. It organizes prose; it carries no tone or hidden reaction.
Why is ¶ showing after every paragraph?
Word is showing formatting marks.
That pilcrow-shaped marker is Word's way of revealing paragraph breaks, spaces, and tabs. Switch Show/Hide off and the page returns to normal; nothing is broken.
Technical and editorial; in chat it reads as a proofreading note.
In Word it means a view setting, not damaged text.
