Separated Block Sextant-34

𜹜 is two separated blocks across the middle of a tiny screen grid. Teletext mosaic graphics used 2-by-3 cells to draw simple pictures on TV information pages. The gaps preserve teletext’s separated display mode; they belong to the drawing.

What 𜹜 means

The middle pair in a six-cell mosaic. In a two-column, three-row grid, “3” and “4” mark the middle-left and middle-right cells. Neighboring mosaic characters build larger pictures.

Teletext began in the UK in the early 1970s, sending information pages and simple block graphics to analog TVs. Its mosaics could touch or leave a narrow background gap around each cell. Unicode gives the separated form its own character so emulator programs can reproduce the mode and older custom-character text can be preserved.

Why does 𜹜 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
