What 𘬬 means
It identifies a Khitan sign, not an English translation.
The small script, created around 925 by Yelü Diela, supplemented the large script with sound spellings for Khitan. It used Chinese-character elements and was said to draw on Uyghur writing. It served in inscriptions, records, poetry and translation; later Jurchen scripts adapted the Khitan models.
Can a Khitan sign be read alone?
It may stand for a word or spell one part of one.
Logograms stand for words; phonograms spell sounds and usually cluster. Inside clusters, signs go left to right, then top to bottom; columns run down and right to left. As of 2026, the script remains partly deciphered, with many sound values unknown. Read this sign through its inscription’s context.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘬬 show as a box on some devices?
It is recent: Unicode added it in version 13.0 (2020), and phones and computers whose fonts are older than that have nothing to draw it with. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
