What 𘯙 means
The inscription around it shows how this sign functions.
Created around 925 to write Khitan, the small script is credited to Yelü Diela and reportedly drew on Uyghur writing, though the two look different. It was used beside the separate Khitan Large Script in the Liao, Western Liao (Qara Khitai), and Jin periods.
A 2017 scholarly catalogue begins its surviving small-script monuments with Yelü Zongjiao’s 1053 stone memorial inscription. Some signs stand for whole words; others mark sounds and usually cluster. Traditional columns run top to bottom, right to left, like traditional Chinese writing; signs inside a sound cluster go left to right, then top to bottom. A plain line can flatten that layout.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘯙 show as a box on some devices?
It is recent: Unicode added it in version 13.0 (2020), and phones and computers whose fonts are older than that have nothing to draw it with. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
